School Clubs
At Osbaldwick Primary School children are encouraged to participate in a wide range of school clubs with children who have similar interests.
KNITTING CLUB
Can you knit? Would you like to learn? If so, come along and learn from Mrs Borrett, Mrs Souter, Mavis and Wendy, our expert local knitters. You could make a stripy scarf, a trendy tie or design your own soft toy. It’s fun and creative. Get knitting!
THE STATIONERY STOP IS THE PLACE TO SHOP!
Run by Year 5 pupils, the shop caters for everyone’s stationery needs with pencils, pens, glitter, rubbers etc all at pocket money prices. The pupils develop skills managing the shop, and enjoy watching the profits grow! Open every Monday lunchtime 1-1.30pm.
CRICKET CLUB
We are very fortunate to be able to use the fantastic facilities at the playing fields opposite school to develop our cricketing skills and play matches.
NETBALL
The netball club is held for boys and girls in years 4-6. Each year there is a netball squad which regularly competes against other primary schools in the area. We enter all netball festivals. In 2008 we won the York small schools netball rally.
TAG RUGBY
This club runs in the Spring Term. Both girls and boys are welcomed and play in mixed teams when we enter the York City Knights festivals. We have a standard to maintain after winning the North Yorkshire Youth Games in 2008.
ROUNDERS CLUB
This club runs in the Summer Term.
DRUMMING CLUB
The Drumming club is one of our most successful clubs. Read more about it here.
FOOTBALL CLUB
The football club is run as a practice time for the school football team and for any children keen to learn football skills and develop their ability in the game. It involves training activities to develop spatial awareness and ball skills, with regular opportunities to play matches and represent the school in the football team. Boys and Girls from years 5 and 6 are invited to take part in the training and many go on to form an integral part of the school team, which over the years has been very successful. In the 2006/7 season the team won their league and went on to win the Champions League competition, becoming York’s primary school’s champions for that season.
CHOIR
Choir takes place for half an hour for children from KS2. It’s an enjoyable good exercise to relief any stress and tension. The choir helps children with their reading skills. Occasionally the Choir receive invitations to sing at the local nursing home and Designer Outlet.
FILM MAKING
Film making club runs in half term blocks for Years 5 and 6 children. The children get chance to learn about different genres of TV and film. They then get the opportunity to make their own short film in groups which may be entered into the annual YOSCARS competition.
