CHRISTMAS FAIR
Our Christmas Fair was a fantastic success raising over £1,150 for school funds so thank you very much for all your donations and your support for this event. At times people were queuing at the door to get in! Everyone who came had a lovely time with many of the children visiting Santa in his special grotto and many of you won some great prizes in the raffle.
POPPY APPEAL
Royal British Legion informed us that we had raised £58.36 for them through the sale of the poppies in school and gave their thanks to everyone.
DINNER MONEY
For those of you who wish to pay dinner money in advance the amount for the next half term is £61.60.
UPDATE ON MISS BARRINGER
Miss Barringer is recovering from her operation and she sends her thanks for the cards she has received Christmas and Get well cards. She would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and is looking forward to seeing you all next year once she returns to work.
CHOIR
Our choir took part in Archbishop Holgate’s School Carol Concert held in York Minster. The children sang beautifully and were a credit to our school. It was exceptionally cold in the Minster and the service was quite long so our children had to be very patient during the other schools carol singing. Well done to the children who took part.
ST AELRED’S PLAYERS - advance warning
St Aelred’s Players are performing the pantomime Aladdin on Thursday 26th January, Friday 27th January 7.30pm and Saturday 28th January (2pm and 7pm) at St Aelred’s school hall - Fifth Avenue. Some of our pupils will be appearing in the pantomime. See the details on the school notice boards or ask Mrs Booth or Mrs Hall regarding tickets in January 2012.
CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
We would like to remind everyone that we break up at 2.30pm on Friday 16th December and return on Wednesday 4th January 2012. We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for 2012. Enjoy the break.
SNOW
Decisions on whether to close school are made taking the weather forecasts into account and local conditions and most importantly if staff can get to school. During any snowy weather this decision will be made early in the morning (7.30 am ish) and we will put updates on the school website. We will also inform the radio stations Radio York, Minster FM and Galaxy. Please check especially in January when school is due to re-open after the Christmas Holidays if it is snowing.
CHRISTMAS CONCERTS
We would like to thank everyone who came to our Christmas Concerts this year. The children sang extremely well and would like to thank everyone for their support.
