CHRISTMAS FAIR - THURSDAY 1ST DECEMBER, 3.30PM
We would like to remind everyone that our Christmas Fair takes place after school on Thursday 1st December with plenty of activities and stalls including jarbola, raffles, face painting, games, Christmas Cards made and designed by our Craft Card Club and refreshments –hot dogs and chips, drinks. We have some fabulous prizes including, a microwave, hairdressers voucher, David Lloyd Family Gym pass, Marks and Spencer voucher, restaurant vouchers, and wine etc. Santa will also be in his grotto waiting with his elves to meet the children and find out what they would like for Christmas! KS1 classes would also welcome any donations of cakes for their cake stall. The children will have lots of opportunities to buy from our stalls so we suggest that they bring a carrier bag and some loose change with them.
Thank you for all your donations so far towards our fair they are much appreciated.
We would like to say a massive thank you for all your generosity over the last few weeks, despite the current economic climate. As you will see from the articles in this newsletter; how much money we have raised for various causes and all requests for donations of various items has been forthcoming for all the different activities that are taking place. You are all stars.-thank you. Also our Reception class are enjoying playing with the dolls that have been donated after our request in the last newsletter.
CHILDREN IN NEED
Many of you had been busy baking the other weekend, so we received some fantastic Pudsey bear themed cakes together with lots of buns, chocolate shortbread and flapjacks. Our corridor was bustling with children buying them to raise money for Children in Need. Thanks to everyone who supported this worthy cause as we raised over £100.
OSBALDWICK CHILDREN (PLAYGROUP) CHRISTMAS SHOPPING EVENING
Osbaldwick Children committee would like to thank everyone who came and spent their money at their ‘Christmas Shopping Evening’ held in the school hall. There were some excellent stalls and lovely prizes in the raffle which helped to raise over £500 for their funds.
THE WIZARD OF OZ
Once again a theatre company came to school and this time they performed The Wizard of Oz with the costs being met by money raised from the Sponsored Scooter challenge rather than yourselves. Everyone enjoyed the excellent show.
DINNER MONEY
Thank you to everyone who pays their dinner money promptly this helps the office staff enormously. We would like to point out that some children are saying the wrong dinner request to their teachers when the dinner register is taken first thing on a morning. This has created problems with our dinner numbers as these have to be correct to ensure enough food is cooked. Please can you all talk to your children and emphasise the importance of concentrating on a morning and telling their teacher correctly whether they are having a hot dinner, jacket potato or pack up. Recently seven children on one day had said the incorrect meal! The catering company require payment for all meals ordered hence the importance of this task by the children.
PRIMARY ADMISSIONS FORMS
If you have a child or know of anyone who has a child who requires a school place for September 2012 the Primary Admissions Form must be completed by the deadline of 15th January 2012 and submitted to the local authority- City of York Council. Places at our school are heavily sought after and forms have already been handed out to children who attend Osbaldwick Children –playgroup or who are on our admissions list. Contact the school office if you have not received one.

ANTI BULLYING WEEK
Our anti-bullying week was a great success. Some of the older children were able to demonstrate how to deal with bullying issues through drama in a series of assemblies. A huge thank you to Mrs Bryan-Smith for co-ordinating the week and to York City footballers who also came into school to run some football themed anti-bullying workshops with the children. Thank you for your positive feedback on our anti-bullying booklet. Lastly if you have any worries or concerns regarding your child our door is always open to discuss any issues that may arise.
STRANGER DANGER
We have had a few reports from the police regarding adults approaching children outside schools, some of which have been at the other side of the City. We would ask all of you to warn your children about strangers but in a way so as not to alarm them-thank you.
MUSIC - RICHARD WILTON
A music assembly has been held for the children by Richard Wilton to tell the children about music lessons that take place in school for children who would like to learn to play a musical instrument. He has held an information session for parents, however if you were unable to attend this, please ask if you would like the information.
